Planning Board Resumes Cafritz Hearing Thursday

Last week's Detailed Site Plan was continued due to the late hour, and to give parties a chance to review new documents.

Third time's a charm?

Cafritz developers probably hope so, as this is the third time in as many weeks as they have had plans for the proposed Riverdale Park mixed use development in front of the Prince George's County Planning Board.

Two weeks ago, preliminary plans for the nearly 38 acre parcel of land were unanimously approved by the planning board, paving the way for last week's hearing on Detailed Site Plans for the development.

The May 16 hearing lasted more than nine hours and did not recess until nearly 11 p.m. that night.

After approving secondary amendments and hearing some testimony on May 23, at around 7:45 p.m. Planning Board Chair Elizabeth Hewlett granted University Park's request for a hearing continuance.

Thursday's planning board meeting is expected to begin at 9 a.m., but the Cafritz DSP is one of the last items on the agenda. Also on the agenda is a draft of the planning board's approval, with conditions, of the development's preliminary plans.
