Thanks, John — looks like you're right. Not sure why the location was identified as Hyattsville in the official statement.

1) The breakdown was Harrison, Lehman, and Olson in favor of remanding and Campos, Davis, Franklin, Patterson, Toles, and Turner opposed. 2) I don't want to generalize, but certainly some opponents of the development would look favorably on a Whole Foods withdrawal (and what that could signal for the overall project). How much of Wednesday's procedural jumble was specifically aimed at that result? It's tough to say.

Good point, Dwight — I've tweaked that paragraph slightly to let the MTA's explanation stand on its own. Thanks for the note.

ReplyAgreed—I've always enjoyed having a big snowfall or two each winter. (Of course I don't have school-aged children, so I'd understand if not everyone is crazy about the idea.)

ReplyMy experience in this area was a little unusual. My older brother had seen one of those do-it-yourself electronics kits in a catalog which claimed (dubiously) that you could build a polygraph with it. He told my mother he was planning to order it and — I kid you not — use it to interrogate her about the existence of Santa. At that point she gave in and told us the truth.
I can't say it put much of a damper on Christmas, but it was an early lesson in brinksmanship.
