The Friday evening commute could get messy.
Riverdale Park, Univeristy Park, and much of the Baltimore-Washington corridor are in for another dose of mixed precipitation Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Snow and sleet are likely to begin sometime after noon, with a daytime high near 38°. Forecasters say accumulations of under half an inch are possible. Rain and snow are also likely in the evening hours, but the precip is expected to switch over to just rain after midnight. Less than a tenth of an inch of precipitation is forecast, with an overnight low of around 33°. Still more precip—all rain—is likely on Saturday and Saturday evening, with a daytime high of around 42°.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Montgomery and Prince George's counties until 1 p.m. today. The alert calls for a mix of freezing rain, sleet and rain, with possible accumulations of less than one inch of sleet and under a tenth of an inch of ice. Temperatures are expected to stay below freezing, which can cause treacherous road conditions. In a statement released by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) administrator Melinda B. peters urges motorists to "keep their speeds down as lighter traffic can result in increased travel speeds," and "to exercise extreme caution today." The National Weather Service expects up to an inch of ice and snow to accumulate.
Prince George's County and surrounding areas are in for a dose of snow, sleet, and freezing rain heading into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. A winter weather advisory is in effect throughout the Baltimore-Washington corridor from 11 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday. Accumulations of up to an inch are possible by the time the precip tapers off, the service reports.
