Police: Woman Fabricated College Park Robbery Story
The 18-year-old University of Maryland student owed a relative money, authorities said.
Prince George's County police say the purported victim of a robbery last week in College Park made up the incident because she owed a relative money. Teshauna Nicole Jones, 18, of the 8100 block of Baltimore Ave. in College Park was arrested Friday and charged with making a false statement to police. Early on the morning of Feb. 5, units responded to the 4500 block of Paint Branch Pkwy. after a report of an armed robbery. According to police, Jones told officers she had been walking westbound away from the College Park Metro station when a man approached her, brandished a gun, and demanded she empty her pockets.
