Weekend Weather: The Good, the Bad, the Foggy

Here's the weekend weather report, courtesy of the National Weather Service.

There’s good news and not-so-good news in the weekend forecast. The good, according to the National Weather Service: temperatures will be mild, reaching 60 at some points. The not-so-good: Don’t expect an abundance of sun. Today, temperatures will reach the low-50s and we can expect mostly sunny skies. Temperatures drop to the high-30s. Saturday will start off foggy in some places with cloudy skies, clearing up as the day goes on. Temperatures will reach the low-50s during the day and drop to about 40 at night.  Sunday skies look mostly cloudy, but temperatures will reach about 60 degrees during the day. Weekend Weather: Keep the Umbrellas Handy

Chance of rain lingers all weekend, both here and at the beaches.

Looks like it will be hard to escape the chance of rain this weekend anywhere in the area, from DC and Maryland to the Delmarva beaches, according to the National Weather Service. On the bright side, we'll get a welcome break from the extreme heat of early August. Here in the Montgomery and Prince George's counties, clouds are already rolling in, with showers and thunderstorms expected to follow later this evening around 9 p.m. A few showers and storms will continue overnight, and lows will fall into the 70s. On Saturday the chance of local showers continues, but at least with more comfortable temps: highs will be in the lower 80s, with lows in the upper 60s. Weekend Weather: Rain Here, There, Everywhere

This weekend is going to be a wet one, both here and at the beach.

This weekend, you’d have to travel far to escape the threat of rain. From suburban Maryland out to the coast, there’s a 20-to-30 percent chance of rain just about everywhere.  But, if you must try the beach, it looks like your best bet is Virginia Beach, where there’s just a 20 percent chance of rain every day until Sunday. On Friday, temperatures will reach the mid-80s with mostly cloudy skies, dropping to about 70 at night. On Saturday, skies will be partly sunny, with temperatures reaching close to 90 degrees. At night, clouds return and temperatures will drop to the mid-70s. On Sunday, expect clear skies and a high temperature near 93 degrees. Weekend Weather Forecast: Prince George's and Day Trips Nearby

Check out the weather forecast for Prince George's County, Ocean City, Rehoboth Beach and Baltimore.

The weekend weather forecast for June 16-17 is a winner for summer fun. For your convenience, we checked the National Weather Service for destination locations in the area. If you’re planning on staying close to home this weekend, the forecast for Prince George's County calls for sunny skies, with highs in the mid 70s on Saturday and with highs around 80 on Sunday. A jaunt into Washington, DC, will be a little hotter, with highs near 78 on Saturday and near 81 on Sunday. For a beautiful weekend at the beach, head to Ocean City, where you can expect partly sunny weather on Saturday with highs around 70.
