Last spring, the Town Center Market opened its doors in the first step towards revitalization the downtown area has seen in years. New leasing signs have gone up, and utility companies have been a near constant presence on Queensbury Road.  These signs of progress are not false, according to Councilman Jonathan Ebbeler (Ward 1), who said Douglas Development has assigned a project …

The Town Center would be a great location to add office space for the Town of Riverdale Park. The Town has voted to spend between 3-5 million dollars to put a second story on the existing Town Hall building. The Town Center location has plenty of parking and would be accessible for the elderly/disabled residents to conduct Town business. The current Town hall has a serious parking problem with …   more ›

Economic Development Committee Meets Monday at Town Center Market

The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.

Call it retail politics, of a sort. When Riverdale Park's Economic Development Committee meets tonight (Monday) at 7:30 p.m., it will gavel to order at the newly opened Town Center Market (4705 Queensbury Rd.) rather than the familiar surroundings of Town Hall. Committe chairman and Ward 1 Councilman Jonathan Ebbeler said the change of venue is designed to "bring attention to the fact that commercial ventures can [be] and are successful in Riverdale Park." "I am specifically holding the meeting at this property since it represents the largest investment by a private land holder in our historic town center properties over the last decade," Ebbeler told residents on the Riverdale Park TownTalk alias. Items on the agenda include the latest on…

I like the old and the new, as long as the old is well preserved, and remembered, and the new has vegan options on the menu. I'll get back to the old neighborhood one day. I've been away too long.   more ›
