The National Weather Service cautions that scattered thunderstorms may move through Prince George's County and surrounding areas Tuesday night. While there are no formal warnings or watches in effect, a few storms "capable of producing damaging wind gusts" are possible. Patchy fog is also expected after 2 a.m., with an overnight low of about 73°. On Wednesday, more scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected after 8 a.m., with a daytime high of about 89°.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Prince George's County and surrounding areas in the Washington-Baltimore region until 9 p.m. tonight. That has area power companies prepping customers for potential weather-related power outages across the region. Pepco announced earlier today that it is monitoring the forecasts, warning that powerful winds could knock out electricity in some areas. Pepco has taken the precautionary move to schedule additional technicians and call center personnel to work through the night. Baltimore Gas and Electric is warning customers that it is preparing for possible weather-related power outages in light of forecasts that a thunderstorm and high winds might hit central Maryland.
