Under Armour calls the state-themed threads 'heritage on the hardwood.'
Not to be outdone by their football brethren, the University of Maryland men's basketball team will wear new "Maryland Pride" uniforms when they take to the floor Wednesday night against North Carolina State. Designed by Under Armour, the so-called ArmourLight uniforms feature the distinctive black, yellow, red, and white heraldic colors of the Calverts and Crosslands—better known as the colors of Maryland's flag. The outfits come complete with state-themed shoes. "This is more than just a uniform," Under Armour said in a press release, "it is Maryland heritage on the hardwood." The Terps (1-2 ACC, 13-3 overall) face off against the Wolfpack (3-0 ACC, 14-2 overall) tonight at 7 p.m. at the Comcast Center.

University Park resident J.J. Bush will retire this summer after 40 years in the UMd. athletic department.

An arena full of men’s basketball fans were standing and cheering—but not for a three-pointer or a quick rebound. They were clapping for him. For nearly 40 years, the University Park resident has been an athletic trainer at UMd. He’s been there long enough to work for eight athletic directors, five presidents, and generation after generation of athletes. On June 30, he'll bring a close to that career, stepping down from his current post as assistant to the athletic director. “Forty years is long enough to do anything,” he said. “If everybody had a career like I did, I don’t think anyone would ever retire.” …
