Riverdale’s finest welcomed a new officer into the fold earlier this month. Ofc. Tom Brannan, most recently of the Pikesville Police Department, was sworn in as an officer of the Riverdale Park Police Department in early April. Brannan has been working in law enforcement for 20 years, with the last ten spent in his current career phase. Prior to his short stint with the Pikesville police, Brannan was with the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office. Working in Riverdale Park appealed to Brannan because he said the department seems well organize, and there’s a lot going on in the town. “I like to be a little busy and I like criminal investigation, and they allow their offices to carry a case further,” Brannan said. Riverdale Park Police Chief David Morris, RPPD commanders, elected officials, and code enforcement staff are set to hold a Ward 2 public safety community walk this Saturday, Sept. 22 at 10:00 a.m. The walk will begin at Town Center Market and proceed through Ward 2 at a casual pace before circling back to the market around 12 p.m. Mayor Vernon Archer and Ward 2 Councilmember Alan Thompson will be in attendance. All are welcome to attend. Drop by the market early to have coffee and a doughnut. Town officials led two similar community walks earlier this summer.
