Salad Season is On at the Riverdale Park Farmers Market

The market runs from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Riverdale Park Town Center.

Red lettuce, green lettuce, baby arugula, pea shoots and strawberries are but a few of the delicious salad fixings residents can expect from vendor’s at this week’s Riverdale Park farmers market, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Town Center parking lot.  Ruthann will be back this week, selling her Caribbean Limeade, banana bread as well as chocolate chip cookies, brownies and Caribbean rum cakes.  Market goers can also look forward to this week's musical performers, acoustic jazz duo Gina DeSimone and Pat Quinn.  Also at this Thursday's market: Hot, fresh food will also be offered by Reuben's Crepes, The Verandah, Geppetto Catering, or Shells Yes! Neopol Savory Smokery Returns and More at the Riverdale Park Farmers Market

The market takes place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Thursday in the Town Center parking lot on Queensbury Road.

Neopol Savory Smokery, the season's first asparagus and springtime weather will be among the highlights of Thursday's farmers market in Riverdale Park.  Here's a sampling of the vendors selling local produce, plants, breads and other goods at this week's market:  Don't feel like cooking? Grab some grub from Reuben's Crepes, The Verandah, Geppetto Catering, or Shells Yes! Crab Cake Company. Dessert is on the menu too with the handmade ice cream and sorbets of Simple Pleasures Ice Cafe. Mystic Water Soap will also be at the market be selling its sweet smelling soaps and other goods.  The market runs from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Riverdale Park Town Center on Queensbury Road every Thursday through October.

Musachio Produce, the Music of Jeffree Allen and More at Thursday's Farmers Market

Another gorgeous day is predicted for Riverdale Park Farmers Market goers.

Glorious spring weather, Brussels sprouts and southern psychedelic music will greet patrons at Thursday's farmers market in Riverdale Park.  Musachio Produce will make their first market appearance selling plants, collards, Brussels sprouts, spinach, sweet potatoes, onions, leeks and more.  Residents will also get to shop to the Allman Brother's-esque music of Jeffree Allen of the Alaskan band Loose Gravel.  Other market regulars will also be present, all from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Town Center. Shells Yes! Debuts at Riverdale Park Farmers Market

Fresh, local food, meats, flowers and more will also be on sale during Thursday's market.

Sunny skies, mild temperatures and crab cakes will all be in Riverdale Park on Thursday, just in time for the town's weekly farmers market.  From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the town center parking lot, residents can enjoy local fare and flowers from the following vendors:  Thursday marks the debut of Shells Yes! Crab Cake Company, selling crab cakes and soups. Market regulars Reuben's Crepes, The Verandah and Geppetto Catering will also be on hand selling hot food for dinner on the spot.  Zeke's will also be selling fresh coffee and beans to take home and, Stone Hearth Bakery will be selling their regular assortment of breads and treats. As if all that delicious food weren't enough, this week's musical guest is local folk singer Bob Clayton.

Outdoor Farmers Market Opens Thursday

The outdoor version of the Rivedale Park Farmers Market is back after a seasonal hiatus.

Live, local music and fresh, local food will share the stage on Thursday when the Riverdale Park Farmers Market kicks off its regular outdoor season. Several market favorites are setting up shop on Thursday, so drop by the town center parking lot from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. for fresh veg and hot dinner fare, including:  As if all that delicious food weren't enough to bring you out to the market, Marianna Previti, performing with the Wild Anacostias—an eclectic New Orleans horn band—will play live at the market from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Winter Market Season Closes With A Song

The final winter market of 2013 will feature a live musical performance, sponsored by the Riverdale Park Arts Council.

Fresh, local food and hip, local music come together Thursday to close out the 2012-2013 season of the Riverdale Park Winter Market.  To wrap up the second season of the winter market, the Riverdale Park Arts Council (RPAC) will present local jazzy rock band Brulee, set to begin playing at 5 p.m.  Winter market regulars ECO City Farms, Groff's Content Farms and Stone Hearth Bakery will all be selling goods on Thursday. The market will also offer several varieties of apples and apple products, and Zeke's Coffee will make a rotational appearance. Thursday marks the final winter market of the season. Riverdale Winter Market: Nuts to You, ECO City Farm, Stone Hearth Bakery

Stock up on fresh, local foods at Thursday's winter market.

Looking for some fresh, local food to dress up your dinner table? The Riverdale Park has some solutions for you with this week’s lineup of local vendors on Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Town Center Market. This week’s special guest will be Nuts to You, offering their line of all natural nut butters. Other vendors include: Attendees at Thursday’s market can also participate in the Buy Local Winter Challenge. To win, just fill out one of the Buy Local cards at the market. The drawing will take place on March 21.

Riverdale Park Winter Market: Ugly Bacon, Free Range Eggs, Apple Cider

Apples, hot Indian food and other pasture meats will also be available for purchase at Thursday's market.

It’s back, the Ugly Bacon is back at this week’s winter market, which will be held inside the Town Center Market from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. For those not in the know, Ugly Bacon, as described on the Riverdale Park Farmers Market Facebook Page, is “bits and pieces at the end of a bacon run, not pretty bacon that looks factory made.” In addition to the Ugly Bacon, made from pastured Berkshire pork, Groff’s Content Farm will also have other pastured meats along with free range chickens and eggs. Several varieties of local apples and apple products, including cider, will also be offered at Thursday’s market. The Verandah's will also be at the market selling hot Indian food.
