Prince George's County housing prices had the best year-over-year increase in the Washington metro region, accoring to a Washington Business Journal story. Prince George's County still has the lowest housing sales prices in the region, but the median sales price was up 20 percent from last year at this time to $180,000.

As we go into the 4th quarter of 2011, the market remains steady. Homes under contract that are short sales or foreclosures, are taking longer to go to closing because the banks take time to make decisions and negotiate. Where a regular sale could close in 30-45 days, the short sales could take a few months. In comparing the real estate market to last year (2010) for the 3 quarters, the figures show Riverdale Park had a decline in sales (approximately 24 percent) and a decline in price (approximately 28 percent) for the first 3 quarters of 2011.
