Deputies Arrest Felony Assault Suspect in Capitol Heights

Sheriff's deputies apprehended Kenneth Ferguson at the 500 block of Cedarleaf Ave. in Capitol Heights, MD.

  Sheriff's deputies apprehended Kenneth Ferguson in Capitol Heights, MD, on an arrest warrant for first degree assault, according to the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office. Ferguson and another male suspect allegedly physically assaulted a male victim at the 500 block of Cedarleaf Ave. in Capitol Heights, according to the warrant, which was obtained on Nov. 20. The other male suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim; then he and Ferguson fled, according to the sheriff's office.  Deputies seeking Ferguson found him at the 7200 block of Hylton Street, the sheriff's office announced. Teen Charged as Adult in Cellphone Shooting

Derrick Anthony Wills, 17, of NE Washington, is charged as an adult for allegedly shooting teen who resisted giving up his cellphone.

  Police arrested a 17-year-old suspect, who they are charging as an adult, in the shooting of a 16-year-old male from the Capitol Heights community who refused to hand over his cellphone in a robbery, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.  Derrick Anthony Wills of the 1200 block of Eastern Avenue in Northeast Washington allegedly approached the victim on foot at the 1200 block of Nye Street in Chapel Oaks and demanded his cellphone, according to police. When the victim resisted, Wills allegedly shot him in the forearm, police said. Police detectives on Thursday found Wills with the victim's cellphone at 50th and Nash streets in Northeast Washington, and the gun used in the crime also was recovered, according to police…

Water Jug Packed With $750 in Cash Leads to Man's Arrest

'It was a sight that would catch anyone’s eye,' police wrote.

A man lugging a five-gallon water jug full of coins and bills dropped the jug as police approached but failed to elude officers and is now charged with housebreaking, according to Prince George's County Police. Authorities said an officer first spotted the man walking with the jug around 1 p.m. in the 1700 block of Countrywood Ct. in Landover. "It was a sight that would catch anyone’s eye," the PGPD wrote in a statement. When the officer approached the suspect—identified as Demetrius Jerome Coles, 19, of Capitol Heights—he allegedly dropped the jug and ran. Coles was later spotted and detained near a wooded area after a short foot pursuit, police said. Officers also recovered a flatscreen TV from the surrounding woods and noticed that the …

I really don't think it's just "bleeding hearts" who believe in the concept of "innocent until proven guilty." It's part of the due process afforded by the Constitution. Has nothing to do with political/moral ideals, as much as you may like to make that connection.   more ›
