Blades Orchard Debuts With Peaches, Jams at the Farmers Market

The newest vendor arrived at the market Thursday with more fruit.

Following a career in the liquor industry, Stephen Blades decided to open an orchard with his family in Federalsburg, MD. Now, after their fourth season, Blades has brought his peaches to the farmers market, along with homemade jams. Blades Orchard made their first appearance at the market Thursday. The 63-acre orchard grows more than 20 acres of peaches, 10 acres of apples and lots of small berries. Currently, they sell fruit at six markets — five in Maryland and one in D.C.— and they operate and 80-family CSA. Blades Orchard to Make First Appearance at Farmers Market Thursday

There will be two fruit vendors at the Riverdale Park Farmers Market.

The Riverdale Park Farmers Market will welcome it's second fruit farm vendor Thursday when Blades Orchard will make their first appearance at the market. Market Coordinator Jim Coleman announced prior to the season that the market would welcome another fruit vendor in addition to Harris Orchard. Stachowski Brand Charcuterie, who sells sausages at the market, is also a new vendor at the market this season.
