Trains every 20 minutes

Green Line trains will operate every 20 minutes throughout the weekend.  (Regular weekend service is every 12-15 minutes during daytime hours.)

Work Performed: Between College Park and Fort Totten, crews will perform track improvements, including tie and insulator renewal, ballast tamping for a smoother ride, and structural leak repairs.

Travel Tip:  Before traveling, consult the trip planner at wmata.com to check the special schedule and reduce your wait time. (Trip Planner is updated to reflect weekend rebuilding schedules on Fridays; please check on Friday afternoon or later.)  You will experience the additional wait time on the platform.  Once your train departs the station, it is not expected to encounter additional delays en route.

RED LINE:

  • Between Shady Grove & Glenmont: Every 20 minutes throughout the weekend.

  • Additional trains between Shady Grove & Farragut North: Service every 10 minutes 9AM-9PM

  • Additional trains between Glenmont & Judiciary Square: Service every 10 minutes 9AM-9PM

Work Performed: Crews will rehabilitate ceiling tiles on station platforms and install upgraded communication equipment.

Travel Tips

  • If connecting between the western side of the Red Line and the Blue/Orange lines, consider trying Farragut Crossing.  When using a SmarTrip card, you can transfer for free by walking between Farragut North and Farragut West stations.

  • If traveling to Verizon Center from the eastern side of the Red Line, use Judiciary Square rather than Gallery Place.

  • Metrobus service may provide an alternate travel option for some riders, especially those along Wisconsin or Connecticut avenues.  To check, plan your trip using Trip Planner and select the "bus only" option.

ORANGE LINE:

On Saturday, every other train runs between Vienna & Stadium-Armory only

On Sunday, trains run every 20 minutes between Vienna & New Carrollton

Orange Line trains will operate as follows:

  • On Saturday: Trains will operate at regular intervals (every 12 minutes) between Vienna & Stadium-Armory.  However, due to a work zone at Minnesota Ave & Deanwood stations, every other Orange Line train will operate between Vienna & Stadium-Armory only.  As a result, passengers traveling to or from the following five stations may experience a longer wait for a train: Minnesota Ave, Deanwood, Cheverly, Landover, New Carrollton.

  • On Sunday: Trains will run every 20 minutes. (Normal Sunday service is every 15 minutes.)

Work Performed:  The multi-month effort to rebuild the deteriorating platforms at Minnesota Ave and Deanwood stations will continue.  In addition, crews will perform track maintenance, including fastener replacement and third-rail insulator renewal.
