William Wirt Students Honored at Awards Ceremony

A Tuesday night celebration highlighted the accomplishments of rising 9th graders.

held an awards assembly Tuesday evening to honor the accomplishments of 120 departing 8th graders.

Students were honored for their various achievements in a number of subject, arts and more.

But there were a few standouts like David Ramos Aguilar, who will be attending classed at Prince George's Community College, as a 9th grader and earning credits towards an associate's degree, and Damien Dixon and Lyric Williams, who were given the superintendent's Rising Star Award.

And finally, Rashaud Whitfield, who is a aspiring producer, who made the students' video yearbook.

The school will say goodbye to about 312 8th graders who are moving onto high school.
