Whiz Kid: Jamal Saunders

This Bladensburg High School student became the first state wrestling champion the high school has had in 39 years.

Bladensburg High Senior Jamal Saunders will be honored at a Bladensburg town meeting for his accomplishments following his win at the state wrestling championship earlier this month.

Saunders is the first champion the school has seen in 39 years, according to Officer Allison Dugas, of the Bladensburg Police Department. The last winner took the championship home in 1972.
