VIDEO: Helping the Blind Cook Dinner

Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind provides cooking classes to help the visually-impaired cook.

The Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind has been assisting the visually impaired in the greater Washington D.C. area for over 110 years. In a partnership with the local food bank the Lighthouse has created an adult services program to help teach the blind to cook.

Once a week the group gets together to learn about nutrition, health and proper cooking techniques. This week the group focused on proteins, the proper ways to cook meat and how to be sure it is cooked without using sight.
