UPES PTA To Host Silent Auction Saturday

The money raised will go back into the school to be used for classroom materials and programs losing funding from the county.

Budget cuts are imminent for the county’s public schools, but for years University Park Elementary School’s PTA has been helping supplement the school’s resources with fundraisers, one being their annual silent auction.

This year, the PTA is hosting the silent auction at Wallace Presbyterian Church on Feb. 26 and beyond all the items on auction, they’ll offer wine and cheese to guests.

The money raised will help fund the school’s art program, classroom materials, media center and field trips, Carrie Davis Murphy, PTA member, said, “We’re supplementing things that have been on the chopping block.”

Davis Murphy said auction items will be available at every price range including gift certificates to local restaurants and for services like music lessons, landscaping and architecture and for weekend getaways. There will also be toys, books and other fun stuff on auction.

The event is free and runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
