Two Schools Remain Closed Thursday in Riverdale Area After Earthquake

The county announced that 32 schools would remain closed Thursday as school officials check for structural damage.

Students at and will get another day off school, after county officials announced Wednesday that 32 Prince George's County schools awaiting post-earthquake assessments would remain closed Thursday.

“The safety of our students, teachers and staff is our number one priority,” William R. Hite, Jr., Superintendent of Schools, said.  “We are working as quickly as possible to get the necessary building inspections completed so that school can resume for all students.”

County school officials completed the assessments of the other county schools Wednesday, which is why they will reopen.
