School System Adds Fourth Public Hearing on Proposed Boundary Changes

New December hearing added; shifting sixth grade into middle schools among proposed changes.

In an effort to get more feedback from parents, students, residents and community officials on proposed school boundary changes, Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) has added a fourth public hearing to take place on Thursday, Dec. 8. The fourth hearing is in addition to three previously scheduled, beginning Wednesday, Nov. 30

The hearings are about concerns over proposed boundary changes at Highland Park, Yorktown and Waldon Woods schools, according to PGCPS. The possible shifting of sixth grade into middle schools will also be discussed, as well as adjusting school boundaries for specialty programs and ensuring all students in a specific neighborhood attend the same schools.

The four public hearings are to brief the community on and obtain feedback on the proposed changes, before they are voted on by the county Board of Education in December.

Here is the hearing schedule (including the new fourth meeting):

8950 Edmonston Road, Greenbelt
