The conference theme is “MISSION POSSIBLE- The Village: Creating a Patchwork for Success.”  Andrea Phillips-Hughes, Title 1 Department supervisor, said the idea is that academic achievement can be reached, but everyone in the community must contribute.

The conference will include sessions on bullying, creating successful parent-teacher relationships, working alongside educators and supporting learning at home.

Phillips-Hughes said the goal is to inspire parents to do more than just decorate a bulletin board.  She hopes parents become actively involved in the decision-making process at their schools.

In addition to the parents and teachers, Phillips-Hughes said community organizations are encouraged to come and speak, so that the local community is represented and has an opportunity to communicate their opinions and concerns.
