Free Robotics Summit

The Lego Pros, an award winning U.S. FIRST Lego League, coordinated by Prince George's County 4-H Youth Development Program, is hosting a FREE Interactive Robotics Summit for youth ages 9-14 on October 2, 2010 at 9am-4pm at the Center for Educational Partnership in Riverdale, MD.

Students will discover the wonderful world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math and the programs that 4-H has to offer. They will experience the FIRST® Lego League® by learning about Robotics and Biomedical Engineering. Participants will learn innovative ways of repairing injuries, of overcoming genetic predispositions and, of maximizing the body's potential. They will also, build and program a robot, using NXT Mindstorms® technology.

The goal of the summit is to engage students in quality S.T.E.M. activities in order to inspire them to pursue science and engineering in college. Research shows that U.S. FIRST® prepares youth to excel in science and math and long-term participants are 50% more likely to attend college and twice as likely to go on to major in science or engineering in college. The Lego Pros and SAIC, are giving back to the community to ensure that more students have an opportunity to experience such quality programming.
