Area CSTEM Take Home Awards in Houston

Students from William Wirt Middle, Bladensburg High and Port Towns Elementary won awards in the National CSTEM competition in Houston.

According to Wirt Middle's media specialist Stacey Montgomery, students placed in several categories at the National CSTEM (communications, science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Competition in Houston over the weekend. 

Montgomery said the group took the following awards:

  • 1st place in the mural competition
  • 1st place in the sculpture competition
  • 1st place in the GIS competition
  • 2nd place in the green competition
  • 5th place in the robotics competition
  • 2nd Place for the spirit award
  • Honorable mention for the expo booth
  • Top Ambassabor out of all CSTEM participants (a couple of thousand children): A William Wirt Middle School student won first place and a Bladensburg High School student won first place, which came with a free laptop.
