February Events at Riversdale

With the return of some favorite events and the addition of some exciting new ones, you're sure to find something up your alley at Riversdale! Here's what's coming up next month!

The traditional end of the holiday season came to a successful close at Riversdale this past Saturday with our Twelfth Night Ball. With 2011 now behind us, Riversdale is looking forward to 2012. With the War of 1812 Bicentennial, free concerts, and the return of some favorite events, you're sure to find something up your alley! Be on the lookout for posts that include the Star Spangled Banner Trail logo! This will highlight our 1812 programming during the next three years! 

FEBRUARY EVENTS
Just in time for Valentine's Day, why not bring your sweetie to this "sweet" event?
Tasting the Past: A Chocolate Sampler
Saturday, February 11, 2 pm
If you asked for chocolate 200 years ago, you would be offered a spiced, hot beverage. Learn about this and other fun facts as you indulge in chocolate food and drink from different periods in history. Participants will even get to spice their own chocolate! 21 & up
Register by February 3; $20 county residents

The Plummers' Kitchen and Closet
Sunday, February 26, noon
This is our first 1812 Bicentennial event! Come watch as the Kitchen Guild prepares foods that enslaved African Americans, including Riversdale's Plummer family, ate in 1812. In the house, an exhibit highlights how they dressed.
$3/adults; $2/seniors; $1/students; FREE children 4 & under; includes house tour

Friday, March 30
Kids 8-12 will go behind the scenes to learn what it takes to run a museum on this day off from school.

Tavern Night
Saturday, April 14
Come for a night of rousing entertainment with the Ship's Company Chanteymen and enjoy traditional tavern fare and beverages. 21 & up.
