Good Deeds

Officer Roberts didn’t have to search long before she saw a striking brown tabby with large puffy cheeks sitting sedately by a vehicle. The cat, whom the shelter has named Deeds. greeted her.

On an unusually warm day in March, animal control officer Roberts responded to a call about an injured cat, loose in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Suitland. Officer Roberts was informed that many of the residents feed the scores of cats that roam the complex, and that one of the regulars had disappeared, reappearing with a serious injury to his tail.

Officer Roberts didn’t have to search long before she saw a striking brown tabby with large puffy cheeks sitting sedately by a vehicle.  The cat, whom the shelter has named Deeds, greeted her with a couple of short meows. He ate the food that was offered and off into a carrier he went.

Deeds’ tail was so mangled it could not be repaired and so the kind veterinarians at All Paws Veterinary Center not only amputated the tail but neutered him as well. Although perplexed about his missing tail, Deeds sits in his cage convalescing surrounded by numerous catnip toys. He now awaits a home where he will be kept safely indoors, and he is open to living with other cats to knock around with.

Deeds came from a location like many in the county where cats exist day to day under dreadful conditions. Consider visiting Deeds and adding him to your family. His caregivers are anxious to see Deeds move onto his new life.

Deeds will be low maintenance. As with most of our felines, Deeds only seeks a sympathetic ear to share stories of his harrowing days on the streets, scrumptious food and a warm, safe place to nap. Make a difference in the life of one tough sweet survivor. View the animals at our shelter on www.petharbor.com or visit our shelter, at 3750 Brown Station Road, in Upper Marlboro, to view more beautiful animals searching for a home. Help us achieve our goal to place all adoptable animals into loving permanent homes.
