Ward 5 Residents to Vote Tuesday in Special Council Election

Attorney and Beechwood Road resident Heidi Sorensen is running unopposed for the seat.

Voters in University Park's fifth ward will cast their ballots Tuesday in a special election for an open town council seat.

Attorney and Beechwood Road resident Heidi Sorensen is running unopposed for the post, which was vacated in January when former Councilwoman Tracey Toscano stepped down to lease a residence elsewhere in town.

Ward 5 covers the northeast corner of University Park.

To get on the ballot, candidates for the seat were required to turn in a petition bearing the signatures of at least ten qualified voters. Only Sorensen submitted paperwork to Town Hall by the March 5 deadline.

Registered Ward 5 voters can cast their ballots at (6513 Queens Chapel Rd.) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today.
