University Park Resident Nominated to MNCPPC Board

Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker nominated John Shoaff, an attorney in University Park, to the county's parks and planning board.

Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker nominated John Shoaff, an attorney from University Park, MD, to serve as a member of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, last week, according to a press release from the executive's office. 

“I am proud to nominate John Shoaff to the M-NCPPC,” Baker said. “Mr. Shoaff is an accomplished attorney and a proven advocate for the environment. He is an excellent choice to serve as a steward of Prince George's County's natural resources and to further my administration's goal of green, sustainable development."

If confirmed, Shoaff will be replacing Sarah Cavitt on the Commission.

Shoaff and his wife helped spearhead local traffic calming measures to improve safety University and he is also a member of the East Campus Redevelopment Community Review Steering Committee.

Shoaff works as the Chief of the Liaison Branch for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics, Environmental Assistance Division.

He also previously worked on air quality issues for the Governor of California and the California Air Resources Board. 

Shoaff has a J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law and a Bachelor’s in Business Management from the University of Notre Dame.
