University Park Council Runs Unopposed Again for May 7 Election

Four incumbents will run unopposed in the town's election on May 7, 2013.

Even though a number of items like the Cafritz Property's development remain a hot topic for University Park's nearly 2,300 residents, four of its council members are running unopposed again this year on the town's May 7 election.

Council members James Gekas, 67, (Ward 2), Lenford Carey, 63 (Ward 4), Heidi Sorenson, 48, (Ward 5) and Michael Cron, 56, (Ward 6) will all be seeking re-election for another two-year term, according to town administrator Tracey Toscano.

Each incumbent has their own list of priorities for their next term from solar panels on University Park Elementary's roof, to monitor the development of the Cafritz property and tree pruning, according to the Gazette.

Although the deadline to fill as a write in candidate was April 8, Toscano told the Gazette that write-in votes would still be counted in the May 7 election.
