Riverdale Park Begins To Gear Up For Town Elections

The town of Riverdale Park will hold its town elections on May 2.

With the elections under two months away, residents are beginning to determine whether or not they want to run.

Town Administrator Sara Imhulse said the following people have picked up election packets from her office:

• Alan Thompson (current Ward 2 councilman)
• David Lingua (current Ward 3 councilman)
• Vernon Archer (current mayor)
• Christopher Henry (current Ward 4 councilman)
• Raymond Rivas (current Ward 5 councilman)
• Jonathan Ebbeler (Councilwoman Alice Ewen (Ward 1) picked up on behalf of Ebbeler. Ewen will not run again).

Ebbeler and Archer are the only two to officially announce their candidacy at a meeting.

In February, the council voted to establish a $25 fee for any candidate filing a petition for elective office.  The deadline to run is 5 p.m. on April 7.

Councilwoman Keelah Allen-Smith has represented Ward 6 in town, even though she moved into Ward 5 because there was no other interest from any resident. There still isn't anyone running for Ward 6.
