Obama Talks Debt, Taxes and Drug Decriminalization at UMd.

The president discussed these topics and others at a town hall at the Ritchie Coliseum in College Park.

People waited in line outside in the unbearable heat for three hours to go through security and enter the on-campus gymnasium, after waiting for tickets Thursday as well.

But, UMd. provided water coolers and fans to keep the guests cool.

Shortly after 11 a.m., Obama took the podium where he began discuss the nation's . Then he took questions from six people, including at least two students, two teachers, a former congressman and others.

He wrapped the town hall up shortly after noon and then went into the audience to shake hands with guests.

Twitter was busy with folks tweeting out their questions and opinions marked #umdtownhall, while others in the audience snapped pictures with their phones and cameras.

Only one group of demonstrators appeared outside the event, promoting the Dream Act legislation.
