Hiker-Biker Trail Construction May Begin Next Spring

Although construction was supposed to begin this summer, there were a few hiccups.

All the title work is finally completed for the hiker-biker trail set to run along the old trolley line from Hyattsville up to College Park, according to Riverdale Park Mayor Vernon Archer.

, which prevented construction from beginning this summer as originally stated by Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

The current dirt trail would be paved, making is easily accessible to people to connect from one end of the region to another.

Archer said construction would now begin next spring.

Riverdale Park Town Administrator Sara Imhulse said Friday it could take four to six months to complete the project. Imhulse also said that parks and planning will be presented an updated deisgn plan at a council meeting this fall.
