Prince George's County to Hold Forums on Water Quality

Residents can give feedback on the county's water quality.

Update, Oct. 11, 4:30 p.m.: Have concerns about the county's water quality?

The final public forum on water quality is scheduled for Oct. 18 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

However, the meeting location has been moved to the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission building at the Prince George’s Park Department Headquarters in First Floor Auditorium at 6600 Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale.

Original Post, July 27, 2:20 p.m.: Prince George's County residents will have a chance to give feedback about the county's water quality during a series of three public forums.

Hosted by the Prince George's County Soil Conservation District office in Upper Marlboro, the first session will be on Aug. 16 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Representatives from the county's environmental resources office, Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, the county's health department, public works and transportation department and Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission will be on hand to hear residents' concerns.

These forums are in conjunction with a state requirement to prepare a Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP) by Nov. 1.

The WIP will help define strategies and initiatives that will reduce nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment loads to improve local streams and the Chesapeake Bay.
