Update: All Clear After Hyattsville Court Bomb Threat

Road closures, traffic disruptions expected.

UPDATE - 3:05 p.m. - Police agencies investigating a bomb threat called into the Hyattsville District Court building have given the all clear. Employees and visitors to the court and the county services building are noew allowed to return to the facility, according to Chris Purvis, public information officer for the Hyattsville City Police Department.

UPDATE - 2:23 p.m. - Added new information from Hyattsville City Police Department.

The Hyattsville City Police Department is investigating a bomb threat at the Hyattsville District Court Building on Rhode Island Avenue in downtown Hyattsville.

The bomb threat has police blocking all north and southbound lanes of traffic in the 5000 block of Rhode Island Avenue directly infront of the court facility and county services building. Both the district court and the county services building are evacuated.

According to a Nixle Alert from the city police department, "employees have been evacuated. Expect traffic delays and road closures in the area. We will provide further information as it becomes available."

According to Sgt. Chris Purvis, public information officer for the Hyattsville City Police Department, a clerk at the district court received a bomb threat by telephone at about 12:35 p.m. 

Purvis said that K-9 units from the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office, the Prince George's County Police Department, the University of Maryland the City of Hyattsville are still, as of 2:15 p.m., searching the complex.
