University Park Police Investigate Two Break-Ins

Two break-ins occurred in the week.

University Park police are investigating two break-ins in town and in one case arrests have been made.

Police Chief Michael Wynnyk reported a break-in Tuesday, which occurred during the day when the residents were not home.

According to Wynnyk, a suspect broke into a home in the 6500 block of 43rd Avenue. The homeowner reported the crime after realizing the basement window was broken and a flat screen tv and several credit cards were stolen.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall man with a dark complexion, medium build with short dread lock style hair. He was wearing dark pants and a dark jacket at the time of the incident.

Police are also investigating another break-in at a home in the 6900 block of Forest Hill Drive.

According to Wynnyk, police stopped a vehicle involved in an accident around 5 a.m. Saturday in Bowie. The Bowie Police Department determined the vehicle was stolen and notified UPPD.

After checking the residence, officers realized the homeowners were away on vacation. The suspects took a flat screen tv and some coins as well as a 2000 Buick LeSabre out of the driveway.

Three suspects were arrested and charged in that case.
