Train Derails in Bladensburg, Spilling Diesel Fuel

The locomotive reportedly struck a derailer, causing it to tilt on its side.

A CSX train derailed on a track in Bladensburg Tuesday afternoon, causing it to leak a significant quantity of fuel.

According to NBC Washington, a locomotive struck a derailer around 3 p.m. in an industrial park in the 2900 block of 52nd Ave.

The collision caused the engine to tilt on its side, spilling approximately 1,500 gallons of diesel in the process.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The Prince George's County Fire Department assisted in the hazmat cleanup.
