Original story, 4:26 p.m., August 12: Three men were arrested Saturday night in connection with a robbery that took place in University Park over the weekend, according to the University Park Police Department.

The robbers—all in their early 20s—were found at a residence on 58th Avenue in Bladensburg Saturday night, according to University Park Police Chief Michael Wynnyk. The men—all from Silver Spring and Olney—were arrested and charged with robbery, police said. A warrant was obtained for a fourth suspect, police said.

According to police, four teenagers were walking toward University Park around 3:45 a.m. Saturday, when they were approached by a suspect who left his vehicle parked in the Exxon gas station in the 7000 block of Baltimore Avenue. The man asked them if they had any marijuana and when one of the teens said no, the man punched him in the face, police said.

The injured teen remained at the Exxon gas station with another teen, while the other two victims walked along the 6900 block of Pineway, where they were again approached by the same vehicle, police said. That’s when a man got out of the vehicle and ordered the two teens to drop their wallets and cell phones, implying he had a weapon. Wynnyk could not confirm that the same suspect approached the teens both times.

The man took two phones and a credit card from the teens, police said. The men then fled in the unknown vehicle, according to police. The victims called 911 and Prince George’s County police reported to the scene and searched the area, police said.

The stolen property was recovered by the Prince George’s County Robbery Suppression Unit when the men were arrested in Bladensburg Saturday night, police said.
