Shooting on Baltimore-Washington Parkway Thursday Morning

Police are investigating a double shooting that occurred on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Riverdale that ended up in Greenbelt.

U.S. Park Police are investigating a double shooting that occurred around 2:15 a.m. Thursday on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, near Riverdale Road. Police think one of the gunshot victims continued driving to Greenbelt, where he stopped near the Capital Beltway exit, according to Sgt. David Schlosser of the U.S. Park Police, who said, “It was a mile-long crime scene."

Once officers responded to the northbound lanes of the B.W. Parkway, they discovered two men inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Schlosser, who reported that both victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All northbound lanes of the B.W. Parkway were shut down for several hours between Riverdale Road and the Capital Beltway, while police investigated. WTOP reported that police reopened around 8:30 a.m.
