Seven Cars Broken Into Tuesday in University Park

Suspects took GPS units, radios and a bag of tools.

University Park Police are reporting that seven vehicles were broken into Tuesday morning between midnight and 5 a.m.

Police Chief Michael Wynnyk sent out a news alert to residents Wednesday reporting the crimes.

The crimes occurred on the 6500 block of 41st Avenue the 4100 block of Tennyson Road and the 4400 block of Underwood Street.

Wynnyk said the side windows were shattered and items were taken from five vehicles.

Stolen items include GPS units, an in dash radio and bag of tools, police said.

Although Wynnyk said police took fingerprints from some vehicles, no suspects have been identified.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, but in the meantime they ask that residents report suspicious activity like the sound of a car window breaking, see someone walking down the street looking into cars or shining a flashlight into vehicles, or if an unfamiliar vehicles is circling the block.
