Route 1 Reopens After Obama Visit

Police closed Route 1 through College Park this morning for the President's visit.

Update, 1:00 p.m.: Route one was reopened after President Barack Obama's motorcade left the city.

Update, 10:48 a.m.: Prince George's County Police confirm Route 1 is closed for President Barack Obama's motorcade.

According to @PGPDJulie, folks are lining up along Baltimore Avenue to get a glimpse of the President's car.

Original Post, 10:19 a.m.: The University of Maryland sent out an alert Friday morning asking local residents and commuters to avoid Route 1 through College Park.

Police have shut down Baltimore Avenue. At this time, Patch cannot confirm whether it's due to President Barack Obama's arrival to campus or how long the road will remain closed.
