Riverdale Park Mayor Announces New Police Chief Nominee

A major with the Prince George's County Police Department will be taking the lead role with the Riverdale Park Police Department.

The nearly seven month search for a new police chief has ended.

Riverdale Park Mayor Vernon Archer announced that Prince George's County Police Maj. David Morris is the nominee for chief of police for Riverdale Park's police department.

Morris has 25 years of experience with the county's police department, some of that time as commander for District 5, according to Archer.

The council will vote on the nomination on Sept. 6 and Archer asked that residents come out and meet Morris in person then.
