Riverdale Man Charged in Attempted Stabbing

Martir Alvarez-Yanez, 48, is being held without bond.

A 48-year-old Riverdale man stands accused of an attempted stabbing over the weekend at a residence in Arlington, Va.

According to the Arlington County Police Department, the incident occurred at 2:21 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23 in the 800 block of S. Frederick Street.

Police said that Martir Alvarez-Yanez of Riverdale tried to stab another person. He and the victim both knew each other, according to ACPD Public Information Officer Dustin Sternbeck.

Alvarez-Yanez was charged with malicious wounding and is being held without bond. The age and gender of the victim were not immediately available.
