Police Nab Suspect in University Park Break-ins

The suspect's name has not yet been released.

Police identified and arrested a man Tuesday in connection with one or more residential break-ins in University Park, according to a release issued by police. 

In the first incident, the suspect allegedly entered a home in the 7000 block of 40th Avenue via an unlocked kitchen door at around 12:45 a.m. on July 23 and stole a purse from the kitchen table. 

Working in collaboration with the Prince George's County Police the Hyattsville Police Department, University Park Police were able to identify and arrest a suspect in this case. Police were also able to recover the property stolen from the home.

The suspect's name has not been released, but he is described as black man with a medium complexion, approximately 6 feet tall and 190 lbs., short dreadlocks and no known address. 

Police also believe the suspect may have committed a second break-in in the 6500 block of 41st Avenue on the same date. Police are investigating the suspect's possible involvement in other area break-ins. The investigation is on-going.
