Local Firefighters Take a Haircut for Charity

Volunteers gathered at Looney's Pub Saturday to raise funds for the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

Members of the Prince George's County Fire Department's fourth battalion—including volunteers from Riverdale, Bladensburg, Hyattsville, and College Park—came together on Saturday to lose their hair for charity.

The fundraiser, held at Looney's Pub in College Park, benefited the St. Baldrick's Foundation, an organization "committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives."

Nearly 70 firefighters participated in the head-shaving event, including one who raised an extra $200 by having a design shaved into his chest.
