Garage Door Fire, Thousands in Damages

Riverdale Fire Department responded to a garage fire on Taylor Road, but no one was injured.

Firefighters responded to a call early Sunday morning when a garage door engulfed in flames on the 5200 block of Taylor Road in Riverdale Park, according to the Prince George's County Fire Department Spokesman Mark Brady.

"About 4 a.m. this morning, firefighters went there and found a detached garage involved in a fire," Brady said.

This incident caused the owner about $15,000 worth of damage to their home, he added.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, Brady said.

Chief Charles Ryan couldn't be reached for comment.
