According to PGFD spokesman Ron Bridges, a driver lost control of a vehicle shortly after 3:30 p.m. near a home at 57th Avenue and Jenifer Place.

Prince George's County Police said the driver of a Toyota 4-Runner tried to pass the driver of a Ford Escape, but struck the Ford instead and lost control of the vehicle.

Bridges said the car left the roadway and slammed into a kiddie pool where children were playing nearby. The care finally came to a stop after hitting a home, police said.

Seven people were injured, including four children ranging in age from 5 to 10, according to Bridges. The 30-year-old female driver and her juvenile passenger were also transported to Prince George's County Hospital, as well as the driver of the Ford. All the injuries were non-life threatening, according to police.

Police are investigating the accident and charges are pending.

Oh my god, a kiddie pool?! Thanks for the photo - I'd be envisioning something larger. I hope those kids are okay.
