Fatal Car Collision Shuts Down BW Parkway

U.S. Park Police say road will be closed for six hours.

Update, 8:25 p.m.: At approximately 6:20 p.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred on the northbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway near the intersection with Good Luck Road, according to Sgt. David Schlosser, a spokesman for the U.S. Park Police.

Two cars collided, and one of the vehicles slammed into a tree, killing the male driver who died at the scene, Schlosser said, adding that the person in the second car was transported to Prince George's Hospital Center with minor injuries.

Southbound lanes are open but moving slowly. The northbound lanes remain closed north of Route 410.

Drivers can access the Baltimore-Washington Parkway from Greenbelt.

The cause of the collision is under investigation, Schlosser said.

Original post, 7:19 p.m.: A fatal car crash has shut down the northbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway Tuesday evening.

One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash on the parkway, near the intersection with Good Luck Road, The Washington Post is reporting.

The parkway will be closed for six hours while U.S. Park Police investigate the scene.
