Burglar Steals Wallet, Cell Phone from University Park Home

The incident is still under investigation.

A suspect broke into a University Park home early Wednesday morning and stole several personal items from the property, according to a release issued by University Park police.

The victims woke Wednesday morning to discover the kitchen door of their Underwood Street home open, and several items missing. Victims told police that a small container of change, a cell phone and a wallet with identification and credit cards were found missing from a table near house’s front door.

Police determined that a back door of the home may have been left unlocked allowing for the burglar’s entry, as no signs of forced entry were found. The theft is suspected to have occurred between midnight and 4:15 a.m.

The change container was found near the home by police. Police also found that the credit cards had been used at area stores. The investigation is still on going.

Residents are asked to contact police if they see suspicious activity and should call 911 if a crime in progress is suspected.
