Bowie Man Killed in Hit-and-Run in Riverdale

Police are looking for a vehicle described as a Lincoln Navigator that fled the scene of the accident.

At approximately 4:56 a.m., Prince George's County Police responded to a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and an unknown vehicle at the intersection of Riverdale Road and 63rd Place, where they found Delavan Lamont Beam, 31, suffering from trauma, according to a police media release.

Beam, of the 2200 Prince of Wales Court in Bowie, was transported to a local hospital where he died a short time later, police said.

Preliminary investigation revealed Beam was traveling on a motorcycle in the westbound lane of Riverdale Road approaching 63rd Place, police said. The unknown vehicle, which was traveling southbound on 63rd Place, attempted to make a left turn without yielding the right of way to Beam. The vehicle struck Beam and fled the scene without stopping and rendering assistance, police said.

The unknown vehicle is described as a Lincoln Navigator with damage to its left rear and may be missing the tail assembly in that area, police said.

Investigators are seeking information regarding the striking vehicle or information from anyone who may have witnessed or been in the area at the time of the collision. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at 301-731-4422.
