Update: Police, Volunteers Find Remains of Missing Germantown Boy

Police found remains of 11-year-old William McQuain, after his mother was found dead in their home Oct. 12.

Update, Oct. 18: Montgomery County Police believe they've found the remains of William McQuain, an 11-year-old Germantown boy, in Clarksburg, according to a prepared statement.

Here are the details according to the statement:

Police and volunteer forces located the body of a young, African-American male off of Clarksburg Road about a quarter mile west of Frederick Road at approximately 9:11 a.m. Tuesday.

Police believe McQuain’s body has been in this location since Oct. 1, 2011.

A surveillance video shows McQuain and his stepfather, Curtis Lopez, 45, entering and re-entering a storage unit during the morning of October 1. At that time, William McQuain appeared to be in a playful mood and showed no signs of distress.

Police are collecting forensic evidence to investigate the death of McQuain, and that of his mother, 51-year-old Jane McQuain, who was found dead in her apartment at the 13100 block of Briarcliff Terrace in Germantown on Oct. 12.

The medical examiner ruled that Jane McQuain was the victim of homicide, and she died from blunt force trauma and stab wounds.

Lopez was taken into custody in Charlotte, N.C. in connection to the death of his wife, Jane McQuain.

Update, Oct. 17: Montgomery County Police continue to search for William McQuain, an 11-year-old Germantown boy who is missing after police discovered his mother, Jane, stabbed to death in their home on 13100 block of Briarcliff Terrace.

According to the Montgomery County Police Department, police officers spent Sunday searching for the boy in two Maryland parks: Damascus Recreational Park and Little Bennett Regional Park in Clarksburg.

Eighty people, including five K-9 teams and seven mounted teams of officers searched for the boy from midday until dusk.

They continue to search for the boy today.

McQuain was last in seen at his home on Sept. 30. He is a described as a light-skinned black male, 5 feet tall and weighing 85 pounds. He's a sixth-grader at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School in Germantown.
