So we had an earthquake and now a hurricane is coming. So what?

OK. So it's kind of a big deal, but that doesn't mean you have to sit at home this weekend.

Maryland State Fair

When/Where: Begins Aug. 26 runs through Sept. 5 in Lutherville, MD.

Why Go: Head over a try some fair food, rides or even enjoy a concert.

Price: Adult admission $8, Senior admission (62 & over) $6, Children (6 to 11) $3, children 5 and under are admitted FREE (Rides are not included), plus money needed for tickets for rides.

Fenton Street Market Kids Fest Rock-n-Romp

Where/When: Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fenton Street Market in Silver Spring.

Why Go: Take the little ones over for a fun day of festivities and enjoy the market yourself.

Price: Free

"Pioneers on the Paint Branch: The Soldiers and Pilots of the First Army Aviation School?"

Where/When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at

Why Go: This exhibit celebrates and honors the men who created the first Army Aviation School 100 years ago.

Price: $4/adults, $3/seniors, $2/ages 18 & under, FREE under 2

Where/When: Saturday, 10 p.m. at Calvert House Inn

Why Go: Sing, dance and drink

Price: Free to enter

Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Dedication

Where/When: Sunday, 11 a.m. at 1964 Independence Ave. SW
Washington, DC

Why Go: Barring it's cancellation due to the hurricane, it's a historic moment, when the nation finally honors MLK, Jr. with a memorial alongside others who have changed our nation.
